How to Charge and Fully Charge BYD Han EV at Home

The BYD Han EV is a very popular mid to large pure electric new energy vehicle in the BYD Dynasty series. There are eight models available for sale in the entire series, including the Standard Luxury version, Long Luxury version, Long Luxury version, Four Wheel Drive Flagship version, Genesis Honor version, Genesis Flagship version, Genesis Honor version, and Qianshan Cui Limited version, all equipped with lithium iron phosphate blade batteries.

All versions of the Han EV can support DC fast charging. Go to the charging station to charge the BYD Han EV, and it can be fully charged in almost an hour. Although using direct current BYD han accessories charging Han EVs is very fast, at present, charging stations sometimes cannot fully utilize their advantages, such as queuing during peak hours, charging equipment failures, and long distances, which can affect charging quality and increase the hassle of using vehicles.

Moreover, long-term use of DC charging not only increases vehicle costs, but also causes irreversible damage to the battery and shortens its service life. So the best charging method for driving the BYD Han EV is to charge it at home. So what are some good home charging methods for it? Below, the editor will organize it for everyone:

Method 1: Use BYD portable charger

When BYD purchases a car, it will give away a 220V10A1.3KW onboard charger, which uses a 10A plug and can be directly plugged into our most common 10A socket to charge the Han EV, charging 1.3 kWh per hour.

If using this on-board charging to charge the Han EV, the fully charged 64.8KWH version requires 64.8KWH ÷ 1.3KW=49.8H; The 76.9KWH version requires 76.9KWH ÷ 1.3KW=59.1H; If it is the 85.4KWH version, it requires 85.4KWH ÷ 1.3KW=65.6H to be fully filled.

From the calculated data, it can be seen that using this onboard charging method to charge the BYD Han EV, although it is relatively convenient and only requires finding a 10A socket to charge the car, it takes a long time to fully charge. Therefore, it is not recommended to use this onboard charging method as a regular charging method for the BYD Han EV, and can only be used as a temporary emergency energy supplement device.

Method 2: Use 16A 3.3KW onboard charging

At present, there is a type of car charging on the market that can be directly plugged into a 16A large three hole socket at home, and the charging power for the BYD Han EV can reach 3KW. Among them, the Plug 16A3.3KW portable charger is a relatively good onboard charging device, which is more suitable for use with the BYD Han EV.

Charging the Han EV can charge up to 6 kWh per hour. A battery capacity of 64.8KWH requires 64.8KWH ÷ 3KW=21.6H to fully charge; 76.9KWH requires 76.9KWH ÷ 3KW=23.3H; 85.4KWH requires 85.4KWH ÷ 3.3KW=25.8H. Compared to BYD charging on the go, the charging speed has been significantly improved when using the Plug charging on the go.

In addition, this plug comes with a 2.4-inch display screen for charging, which allows you to visually see the charging data of each item during charging. With dual temperature control protection, even if the car is charged for a long time, there is no need to worry about unnecessary hidden dangers caused by abnormal charging temperatures.

Method 3: Use BYD wall-mounted charging stations

If you think the charging speed of using car charging is too slow, you can actually install a wall-mounted charging station at home. BYD can apply for a home wall-mounted charging station with a maximum power of 6.6KW when purchasing a car. When it is possible to install a household charging station, using this charging station is relatively good.

When installing and using BYD wall-mounted charging stations, it is best to apply for a separate meter in advance. On the one hand, it can reduce the wiring distance from the charging station to the meter and reduce installation costs; On the other hand, one can enjoy the tiered electricity prices brought by the new electricity meter, which can be distinguished from household electricity meters and reduce vehicle costs. The application for an electricity meter can be operated by mobile phone or by going to the local power supply bureau. Due to different policies, there may be differences in whether to charge for the meter. After installing the electricity meter, you can contact the master for on-site installation or install it yourself.

Use BYD wall-mounted charging stations to charge the Han EV, which can charge up to 6 kWh per hour. A battery capacity of 64.8KWH requires 64.8KWH ÷ 6KW=10.8H to be fully charged; And for a full capacity of 76.9KWH, 76.9KWH ÷ 6KW=12.8H; 85.4KWH requires 85.4KWH ÷ 6KW=14.2H. This charging speed is relatively ideal, which means that the Han EV can be fully charged in just one night. We can also use Valley Electric to charge, which can effectively reduce vehicle costs.

Method 4:  32A Portable Dual-Purpose Charger

The charging speed of the charging station is very fast, but many users do not have the conditions to install the charging station, so they cannot apply to use this wall-mounted household charging station. So, are there any other ways to replace charging stations? In fact, there are. In this case, the Plug 32A6.6KW dual-purpose portable charger can be used. Just install a special 32A socket in advance, and you can enjoy the same power charging speed as the charging station.

Why use a 32A dedicated socket is because the charging power of 6.6KW is relatively large, and ordinary household sockets cannot withstand such a large power, so a 32A dedicated socket must be used. Plug will provide one as a gift along with the goods, and we can also purchase it ourselves. It can be installed in company units, rural homes, merchant stores, and other places. As long as we arrive at the destination, we can charge the Han EV at a speed of 6.6KW because the charger can be disassembled and carried with the car.

In addition, it also has a 16A plug. When driving the Han EV out of town temporarily, replace this 16A plug and it can be used as BYD’s onboard charging, which can also be very convenient for charging the Han EV.

The above is the home charging method for BYD Han EV that I have organized for everyone. In fact, the best way to start new energy is to charge at home. On the one hand, AC charging is achieved by converting the car motor and then transmitting the current to the battery, which has a certain buffering effect. On the other hand, direct current fast charging works directly on the battery beyond the motor, causing significant battery loss. Moreover, using AC charging at home generates relatively low electricity bills, which can effectively reduce vehicle costs.
